2008 Shortlist Announced!

The 30 films to compete for the Iris Prize 2008, the world’s largest international gay and lesbian short film competition, have been announced.

"I’m confident that the 30 shorts competing this year for the Iris Prize represent the best of film making talent within the gay and lesbian community.
"We were thrilled last year for our inaugural festival when half the competing film makers attended the event. From the response we’ve had I believe that even more will make the journey this year," said Iris Prize Festival founder Berwyn Rowlands.
"We are also delighted that American filmmaker Dee Rees will be attending the 2008 competition. Her winning film Pariah will be screened and she will share some of her plans for new work with the festival audience. "
All 30 short-listed short films, which last from three to 35 minutes, will be screened during the three day festival.
While several countries have more than one film shortlisted, Canadian filmmaker Trevor Anderson has the unique distinction of having two films up for the prize. But he is up against opposition not only from other countries but three fellow Canadians, Cassandra Nicolaou, Bill Taylor and Jim Verburg.
