You don't have to be a friend of Dorothy to be a friend of Iris!
Background
The Friends of Iris are an important part of the Iris Prize Festival. The members of the scheme offer over 100 bed nights each year to our visiting film makers and jury members, and support with our marketing activity, press work and guest liaison. In a nutshell the Friends of Iris helped to make Iris a huge success.
Why support Iris?
As a friend of Iris you are supporting the world’s largest gay and lesbian short film prize. With partner festivals located across the globe in Los Angeles, Sydney, New York, Dublin, Philadelphia, Toronto, London, Brazil, Tel Aviv, Austin, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Hamburg, Miami, Chicago, Melbourne, Oslo and Mumbai the Iris Prize aims to promote and support gay and lesbian filmmakers around the world.
When and where?
Cardiff will once again play host to the Iris Prize Festival with the fifth festival taking place from 5th - 8th October 2011. The festival programme will include screenings of the 30 short films competing for the Iris Prize together with feature films, debates, discussions and the odd party or three!
As a friend of Iris you are kindly agreeing to support the festival by:
- Offering a room with a bed for at least ONE of the Iris Prize filmmakers during the 2011 festival in Cardiff (max 5 nights).
- Agreeing to help during or in the run up to the event, e.g. office support, guest liaison, marketing support.
- Assisting with the fundraising campaign.
In return Iris will offer you:
- Free Iris Membership (usual cost £5)
- A VIP Pass which will secure you access to all screenings, events, receptions and the award ceremony, during the 2011 festival.
- Invitations to Friends of Iris events which take place throughout the year.
- Iris Membership Card. This card will get you discounts at selected restaurants and cinemas throughout the year and not just during the festival! Currently offers are available at Stefano's, Pontcanna; The Happy Gathering, Canton; Oscars of Cardiff, Pontcanna; Cineworld and Chapter.
- You will also be eligible to vote for the "Iris Prize Best Feature Award" presented to one of the six feature films from the 2011 festival programme.
