You don't have to be a friend of Dorothy to be a friend of Iris

The Iris Prize is hosting a Friends of Iris evening on Thursday, June 7th from 7 – 9pm at the Spice Merchant in Cardiff Bay (UK).

The Iris Prize is the largest Lesbian and Gay short film prize in the world, with the winner receiving £25,000 to make their next short film in the UK. Hundreds of filmmakers from around the globe will compete for the inaugural prize, which will culminate in a three day event held in Cardiff from October 4th – 6th where the top thirty shortlisted films will be screened; other events will include gala screenings, masterclasses, parties and a closing night award ceremony where we’ll discover which lucky filmmaker gets to take Iris home.

To become a Friend of Iris, we are asking friends, family and supporters based in Cardiff to offer accommodation to the filmmakers of the top thirty shortlisted films over the three day period of the Iris event. We’re also looking to recruit individuals who would be willing to help before and during the Iris event. And please note: You don’t have to be a friend of Dorothy to be a friend of Iris, so all are welcome!

As a friend of Iris you will be supporting an initiative which has already secured the support of 15 partner festivals including Hong Kong, Toronto, Sydney, San Francisco, London and New York. Back in Cardiff, you will be invited to the Iris Prize Award ceremony on Saturday 6th October 2007 and receive regular updates about Friends of Iris events.

If you would like to attend the Friends of Iris evening please send an email to Berwyn.
