The first Cineworld Cinema was launched in 1996 at Stevenage by Cine-UK Ltd. Cine-UK Ltd was a privately owned company headed by Steve Wiener - a cinema exhibition expert with experience on both sides of the Atlantic. Over the following years an additional 34 cinemas were developed making it the fastest growing multiplex cinema chain in the country.
