As 2017 marks the 50^th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales, we look back at how cinema addressed homosexuality and what it was like to be an LGBTQ+ cinema goer in the 60s.

The talk will be hosted by research associate at UCL, Dr Patrick Glen, who conducted research into cinema going during this decade of great change, and how LGBTQ people remembered and understood cinematic representations and lived in spite of frequent discrimination.

This will be a nostalgic journey and an opportunity to reminisce and reflect on times passed, by looking at some of the interviews conducted as part of this research project. Audience members will be encouraged to share any memories that they might have of cinema going in the past.
