Iris Prize Membership 2011 / 2012: How you can support the Iris Prize Festival

Iris is five years old this year. The Iris Prize Festival, established in 2006, was recently identified by US based lifestyle magazine OUT as a must attend event! To celebrate we are launching this new Iris Prize Membership scheme, which we hope will expand the Iris family even more.

The Friends of Iris, who offer accommodation to visiting guests will continue to be an important part of the Iris family - without them Iris would not have become the event it is. However, we are often asked by people how they can show their support for Cardiff’s international lesbian and gay short film prize even though they are unable to offer a bed for a visiting guest.
We have been thinking of ways to help Iris and also reward her loyal supporters and so are pleased to now have 3 categories of support and involvement with the festival:

• Short Film Patron
• Friend of Iris
• Member

Iris Prize Membership

Iris Prize Membership is open to everyone aged 18 or older. In this introductory year membership will cost £5.00 and entitle members to:

• The Iris Loyalty Card – this offers you a range of discounts at selected restaurants and venues in Cardiff throughout your membership year. In addition to Iris’ established friends at Happy Gathering, Chapter and Cineworld the card will be welcome at restaurants Oscars of Cardiff and Stefano’s as well as at Pulse.
• Invitations to special screenings and events - working with our partners at Cineworld, Chapter and BAFTA Cymru Iris will offer an access to event programme with exclusive member-only activities.
• Iris Prize Member Parties - as an Iris Prize Member you get to meet other members and guests of Iris during the Summer Drinks and Christmas receptions.
• Priority Booking - with Iris Prize Festival screenings selling out, be the first in line to buy your tickets. Members are guaranteed tickets for all orders placed directly with the Festival office by 22 September 2011. 
• Free tickets for talks and discussions - Iris Prize Members will be entitled to tickets to the talks, panel sessions and discussions free of charge.
• Opportunity to purchase tickets for the Iris Prize Award Show - the coveted tickets for the annual Iris Prize Award Show can only be bought by Iris Prize Members
• Opportunity to purchase an Iris Prize Festival VIP Pass at a discount - the Iris Prize Festival VIP Pass gets you into all the Iris Prize Festival screenings, talks and the Award show and official after party. Available to members at a discount.

Friends of Iris

Membership benefits come free for the group of Iris supporters who commit to accommodating a visiting film maker or jury member or volunteering with the Iris team but being a Friend has an additional benefit:

• An Access All Areas Pass: The famed “Friend of Iris” pass gains you admission to all Iris Prize Festival screenings, talks, film maker brunches, Award show and parties

Iris Short Film Patrons

To help ensure Iris can continue to offer winning film makers the opportunity to make a new short film we are establishing the Iris Prize Short Film Fund. Members who are prepared to donate at least £150 to the Iris Prize Short Film Fund will receive all of the benefits of being a Friend of Iris as well as seeing their donation put to good use in supporting the Iris Prize itself. Iris Short Film Patrons will receive an on-screen credit on the Iris short produced in the year of their donation.
